Chapter 1945 Please help me, make them let me go
The village chief smiled enigmatically: "You can remarry, but you can't take a single penny with you. Now that the second son is gone, I, as the eldest brother, have to look after this family and help him raise his son."
The woman remained silent and listened attentively.
The village chief said a few more words and then left.
The next day, Wu Ni packed her things and left home to continue working away from home. The small restaurant she used to work at hired a temporary worker because she had returned home, and no longer wanted her.
She sat dejectedly on the street, looking around blankly, trying to find her next job, when suddenly she saw a familiar face and her eyes lit up, "Fourth Sister?!"
The completely changed Si Ni walked up to Wu Ni and stretched out a hand to her, "Fifth Sister, come with me."
After leaving, the two sisters never returned home.
The weather is getting hotter.
Zhang Ran paid for the ceiling fans, and the principal led a group to town to buy them. They were then brought back to the school and installed on the ceilings of the classrooms. In the sweltering summer, a cool breeze would blow, and cicadas would chirp all night, disturbing the peace and quiet.
One night a month later, Fu Qin suddenly woke up in a fright and reached out to nudge Zhang Ran, who was sleeping next to her. "Xiao Yue, why can I hear a woman crying outside?" Could it be a female ghost?!
Zhang Ran heard this too, sat up and got out of bed, saying, "I'll go out and take a look."
Fu Qin quickly got out of bed, "I'll go with you."
The two followed the sound.
Under the moonlight, a group of people surrounded a woman who was slumped on the ground, punching and kicking her.
Upon noticing the arrival of outsiders, the villagers immediately turned around.
Upon recognizing Zhang Ran and Fu Qin, the village chief immediately composed himself, his fierce expression vanishing as he approached and greeted them, "Did we wake you two?"
Fu Qin craned her neck to look curiously, "Who are you hitting?" With only moonlight and the crowd obscuring her view, she couldn't see who they were hitting for a moment.
The village chief, however, only stared at Zhang Ran as he explained, "I'm sorry to have made you two teachers laugh at me. My sister-in-law tried to elope with some random man late at night, but I caught her with my men."
"Huh?" Fu Qin was stunned. Only then did she notice that one of the villagers was holding a child, who was Shi Lao Er's youngest son.
Zhang Ran remained silent.
The village chief glanced at Zhang Ran warily, making sure she wouldn't meddle, before walking up to the woman who had been beaten and sneering, "Our second son is missing. You want to remarry, and our family agrees, but you sneak away in the middle of the night and even take our second son's only child with you. That's going too far!"
Fu Qin: How come he's an only child? Weren't the nine daughters you had before him human?
The woman stood up awkwardly, looking directly at the village chief. "Brother, here's the child, let me go!" She had originally intended to leave with her son, but since she had been arrested, she had no choice but to leave on her own.
The village chief stared intently at the canvas bag in her arms: "You can leave, but your things must remain." Did she really think those wild men liked a woman who had given birth? They were clearly after her money! Fool!
Although he didn't explicitly say it was money, everyone present knew he meant that Erni would receive 150,000 yuan for a ghost marriage.
The woman was unwilling to compromise on this.
Erni is her daughter, so the money should naturally be hers too. Why can't she take it with her?!
But the village chief and his men outnumbered her and their eyes searched for her, finally landing on Zhang Ran. She pleaded pitifully, "Teacher Zhang, please tell me the truth. My husband is gone, and I want to remarry with my son, but they won't agree. Can't I just give up my son? Please help me and make them let me go."
Everyone instinctively looked at Zhang Ran nervously, the image of her kicking Shi Lao Er flying flashing through their minds. Could they beat her if they all attacked together?
Zhang Ran yawned, grabbed Fu Qin, turned around and left, saying, "Let's go back to sleep."
