Chapter 505 - 505: It's Hero Time!
Chapter 505 - 505: It's Hero Time!
A minute earlier, whilst she was still aboard the ship, Astra grabbed Nixie by the collar as she tried to leap out of the open door. She dragged the girl back, making sure that she couldn't escape."What are you doing?" Nixie whined, wriggling in Astra's hand while Honey still slept soundly on her head, not moving in the slightest despite all of the movement.
"Let me go. I can help you know! Even Bob said I can!"
"I know you can, and I want you to help." Astra said plainly, placing Nixie down but making sure that she didn't rush off again. She forced the girl to look her in the eyes as she spoke slowly.
"But you are not going to fight him. I don't care how strong you are, or where you came from. You are still my daughter above all else. So I am not going to send you to fight him.
Instead, I need you to go into the city and help the people. You can hear those screams, can't you?"
Nixie paused in her struggles and mini tantrum to listen to what Astra was talking about, before nodding solemnly.
"Yes... I can..."
"Of course you can, and I know you've spent a lot of time reading your Dads old comics and watching his old shows. So tell me... What would a real hero do? Would she fight for glory and ego? Or would she save the people in trouble?"
Nixie pouting more, rubbing her foot into the ground before muttering, "They would save the people... I have great power..."
"Which means you have great responsibility. So go, be a hero for them, just like your Dad is for so many."
Astra said with a warm smile, kissing Nixie's forehead before leaping out of the ship, launching a bolt of lighting into Neptune's back as she flew across the desert.
Nixie watched her leave with a sad sigh, watching as her and brother Bob fought the big bad guy, before she clenched her fists. Mum was right, she had to be a proper hero.
With a badger still sleeping on her head, Nixie dropped from the ship and flipped in the air as she curved her trajectory upwards and shot towards the city like a rocket. Unfortunately in all the commotion and excitement, none of them remembered that they had also brought Juniper along.
Someone who could neither fly nor manage the fall to the ground. She couldn't even fly the ship.
Nixie lowered her head as she flew, using the badger on her head as the tip of a battering ram, as she ploughed through winged horses that were flying towards the Pyramids. Their bodies exploded into red mist as they collided with the unstoppable duo.
Dozens of these Horse birds filled the air, and Nixie wanted to take down every single one of them. But she couldn't.
Instead she grit her teeth, leaving them to the others to take care of, as she flew straight to the city no matter what decided to obstruct her path. Buildings whizzed past her in a blur as she flapped her spiritual wings, carrying herself on the currents of spirit energy rather than the air.
A shrill scream caught her ear, causing her to redirect her flight path towards someone who was about to be cut down by a Centaur wielding a giant, oversized greatsword.
Nixie slammed her feet into the ground, stopping suddenly and perfectly in-between the two of them, just as the sword came down. It slammed against her shoulder, the steel blade crumpling like a tin can as it failed to even nick her skin.
Before the Centaur could process her sudden appearance, the ghostly head of a Dragon manifested above her head. It roared briefly before bending down and clamping its teeth around the Centaur.
Nixie shook her spiritual head, ripping the centaur in two and doing so right at the seam between it's two halves. The headless horse body flopped to the ground as she whipped the human torso through the air, discarding it like the trash it was.
With the nonchalance of removing dust from her shoulder, Nixie brushed off the greatsword and let it clatter to the ground as she turned to check on the woman behind her.
"Th-Thank-" That was all the woman was able to get out, her voice trembling as she struggled to catch her breathe, before Nixie launched into the air and disappeared from sight. Her appearance had only lasted for no more than five seconds.
But that woman would remember those five seconds for the rest of her life as she desperately memorised the face of the girl that had saved her. Deep in her heart, she swore to herself that if she ever met this girl again, she would thank her properly. Even treat her to a feast fit for a king.
This woman was not the only one who had these thoughts. All across the city, people were being saved by the Dragon-girl. Some saw her for barely a few seconds, as she stopped to help them, while others only saw a blur before the thing attacking them became paint on the nearby walls.
A few even were blessed with witnessing the truth of her being, as she manifested claws, wings and the tail of a Dragon to fight off the hordes of horses that had betrayed their people.
In the moments of panic and desperation, the fanatical were born from the bloodshed and carnage. Where there were once normal people, going about their lives, there were now believers in the Dragon-girl and the power she held.
She was not the only one helping. Egypt as a whole, as well as Gaza itself, had many of their own powerful individuals fighting back. A few of them even rushed to the Pyramids to try and help, although it wasn't clear who they should be helping yet.
However they were known to their people, and whether they belonged to the same country or not was not a thought when it was their lives being saved.
The presence of such a young girl appearing out of nowhere and wielding the spirit of Dragon spoke to the hearts of so many, and inspired their belief. Belief that Nixie's body and soul, as the recycled remnants of the once Great and Powerful Prometheus, eagerly accepted and began to convert into even more power as she fed on the blooming Divine Energy.
On this day a Legend of the ages was born. But no one present could ever possibly imagine how wide that legend would reach, or how long it would last. If someone told them, they would think they were truly insane, or that they had actually been saved by a true God.
