Chapter 1447 A Shameful First Day
Chapter 1447 A Shameful First Day
One person asked the question, and many others followed suit, all curious about what made this "special student" so special.
I saw that girl walking towards Professor Zhang outside the office before, and I thought they had some kind of relationship, but now it seems...
Zhang Zhe looked at Mu Ning calmly. He had encountered students who received special treatment to get into the school before, but if such students behaved themselves, he wouldn't necessarily promote them further. But this girl was actually laughing and joking in his class? He didn't have many students like this in his class.
Instead of providing care, they became even stricter.
Clearly, the "negative score" rule he mentioned came to mind at this moment, just to deflate the girls' arrogance and prevent them from thinking that they can do whatever they want just because they are being taken care of.
"Any objections?" Zhang Zhe asked.
“Yes, this is unfair. I submitted papers for every class, so why did I still get a negative score?” Mu Ning asked, her eyes red.
A pretty girl asking a question with teary eyes evokes pity, but a girl as overweight as her crying about unfairness only evokes disgust because it's utterly devoid of beauty! It seems that sympathy is only reserved for pretty girls.
Zhang Zhe slightly closed his eyes. "Why? You haven't even come to class, and you still care about grades? Do grades matter to you?"
What outstanding student could get high scores without even entering the school gates?
Other teachers can do it, but he can't! Other students can do it, but she can't, because she's not a top talent and doesn't qualify!
In Zhang Zhe's eyes, unless students are researching a new product that will benefit mankind or doing something that is good for society, they don't have to attend classes. For everyone else, sorry, it's all business!
As soon as Zhang Zhe finished speaking, the class chuckled softly. It was indeed funny; she didn't even come to class, yet she still cared about grades? Since she didn't come to class, her grades probably weren't important to her.
Mu Ning bit her lip, her face flushed, and stood there like a mountain.
He wanted to rush out the door, but he could barely move his feet.
Unable to hold back, tears streamed down her face. Zhang Zhe waved his hand, "Sit down, come to my office after school."
Mu Ning didn't say anything, just sat down and didn't look up for the entire class. She kept sniffling and sobbing softly.
She was definitely wrong. No one else would do this. It's been so long since the start of the semester and she still hasn't come to class. Normally, she would have been expelled from school long ago.
However, she really had family matters to attend to and couldn't leave.
Being scolded by the teacher is never a good feeling, especially for someone who values studying so much; they'll probably be depressed for a long time.
Lingling, who was sitting next to Mu Ning, nudged her. "Hey, Mr. Zhang is like that in class. He's strict with everyone, but he's not targeting you. However, he's very gentle outside of class, so we all say he has a split personality. Don't cry, it's okay, it's not a big deal. You had some family issues, right? If something really wasn't holding you back, who wouldn't have missed school once in so long? Try to think positively."
"Don't talk to me, or you'll get woken up too," Mu Ning replied softly.
How embarrassing would it be to be woken up?
I wanted to study quietly, but now I've become famous on my very first day at school. Who knows how long my classmates will remember me?
"I'm not afraid," Lingling said with a smile.
There are only two classes in the morning, and one of the reasons for changing classrooms is that we can end get out of class early. Now that we're all graduate students, the teachers have more flexibility. This kind of content doesn't need to take up the time of both students and teachers. Everything that needed to be covered has been covered, and everything that needed to be assigned has been assigned. Why shouldn't we leave? Does the whole class have to wait for the bell to ring for lunch?
One by one, the students left the class. There were only eighteen students in total, half the number of students in a university class. Mu Ning only got up after everyone had left.
"The professor wants you to go to his office," Lingling reminded him from the doorway.
“I remember, do you know where Professor Zhang’s office is?” Mu Xiaoniu asked.
"Over there in the Chinese Department office building." Lingling pointed in that direction. Mu Ning slowly raised her eyes and looked in the direction she was pointing. Which way was that?
"Let's go downstairs together, I have a bad sense of direction." Mu Ning really couldn't figure out which way Lingling was pointing with her wave.
"Okay."
After going downstairs, Lingling pointed to the lakeside and said, "Cross the bridge and walk towards Building 10, go around the sports center to the building behind it, that's the science and technology exhibition hall. Just walk through the science and technology exhibition hall and you'll be at our department's office. All the teachers and leaders in our department are there. You came to class today, so I think you might as well just cancel your leave now."
"Oh... thank you." Mu Ning nodded hesitantly.
"Don't be sad, it's okay. Everyone's laughing didn't mean any harm." Lingling comforted her when she saw her looking dejected. After she managed a weak smile, Lingling waved and said, "I'm leaving now. I'm having dinner with my boyfriend. See you on Friday."
"See you on Friday." Mu Ning waved. Luckily, she didn't ask Lingling to come with her, otherwise she would have been rejected again.
Mu Ning quickly crossed the bridge, passed through the teaching building, behind which was the science and technology exhibition hall, and beyond that were the offices of the Chinese Department.
Mu Ning sighed. Finding a location for such a large school was exhausting. Are land prices in the suburbs really that cheap? The new campus occupies such a vast area; it's unreasonable.
Mu Ning walked into the Chinese Department building and suddenly stopped. Oh no, she didn't know which room Professor Zhang's office was in. This whole building belonged to the Chinese Department. Did she have to search floor by floor and room by room?
I knocked on the door of the first office. "Excuse me, teacher, could you tell me where Professor Zhang Zhe's office is in the Applied Linguistics department?"
"Fourth floor, room 403." The person inside didn't even look up.
"Thank you." Mu Ning immediately cheered and turned to run upstairs. This was the only thing she felt accomplished about today.
When Mu Ning arrived at the office, the door was open. She could see a young and beautiful woman with her back to her, slender and dressed in a well-fitting suit. She was also blocking the view of the young man sitting at the desk, and the two seemed to be talking in hushed tones.
Mu Ning, who had intended to knock on the door, quickly withdrew her hand, turned around and stood outside the door, not daring to disturb them.
Half an hour passed while she stood there, and then the school bell rang. Mu Ning frowned. Oh no, the teachers should be going to eat and rest by now. Could she still go in? She was really scared and hesitated outside.
A female voice came from inside and asked, "Aren't you leaving yet? The students have all gone home. I thought you left get out of class early to have dinner with me."
"Okay, wait a bit longer. I need to prepare the materials for my elective class this afternoon," Zhang Zhe replied. After a pause, the man's voice rang out again, "Why don't you go ahead? I'll just grab something to eat at the cafeteria later."
