Chapter 1510 Attentive Care VS Bystander
Chapter 1510 Attentive Care VS Bystander
"This afternoon, a lady said I have a lucky face. Although it's not very believable, it still made me quite happy," Mu Ning said softly.
"Whose wife is she? She has a good eye." Zhuang Shiyuan chuckled softly.
"She was addressed as 'Mrs. Yu,' but I don't know if it was because the husband's surname was Yu or because the wife's surname was Yu. My mother-in-law didn't say much about it."
As Mu Ning spoke, the two had already entered the house. The housekeeper rushed over to close the door, and Zhuang Shiyuan smiled and said, "Mrs. Yu? Then I should know a little. The Yu family has business dealings with my father. Currently, the eldest son of the Yu family works in a company, and the second son should be a doctor, right?"
"Yes, yes, I heard he's a doctor." Mu Ning nodded immediately.
As soon as Mu Ning entered the room, a warm current hit her face, causing her to sneeze several times. Zhuang Shiyuan, who followed her, asked anxiously, "What happened? Are you cold?"
"No, it's okay."
As Mu Ning spoke, the aunt also came up, "Young Master, Young Madam, please have some hot soup to warm yourselves up."
"Okay." Zhuang Shiyuan turned to the aunt and replied, then led Mu Ning into the dining room.
"Why are you back so early today?" Mu Ning asked Zhuang Shiyuan.
"There's nothing much going on at the company, so I came back early. I'm leaving tomorrow, so I came back to pack my luggage and see if there's anything I need. That way I can squeeze out some time to prepare."
Hearing Zhuang Shiyuan's words, Mu Ning suddenly remembered her aunt's suggestion and immediately moved closer to Zhuang Shiyuan, saying, "Zhuang Shiyuan, I'd like to ask my mother to go to Hainan as well, is that okay?"
"Tomorrow?" Zhuang Shiyuan asked in surprise.
Mu Ning nodded, looking at his expression. She rarely asked him for favors, so she was a little hesitant to speak now.
Zhuang Shiyuan considered it briefly, "It's a bit troublesome. I don't know if we can book the same flight, and we also need to arrange accommodation there." Zhuang Shiyuan pondered for a moment, then picked up the phone and dialed a number, "I didn't arrange the itinerary, I have to ask Uncle An." He paused and looked at Mu Ning, "Do you really want your mother-in-law to come and keep you company?"
"Okay, is that alright? If not, you don't have to," Mu Ning said with a smile.
Zhuang Shiyuan gently placed his hand on Mu Ning's shoulder, smiled to indicate that everything was alright, and then answered the phone.
"Uncle An, is it okay to arrange for one more person to come along for tomorrow's trip? I'd like to bring my mother-in-law along so she can keep Ning'er company."
Zhuang Shiyuan was on the phone, and Mu Ning stared straight at him, waiting for his response.
In An, he was very straightforward; he said yes and arranged it immediately.
After hanging up the phone, Zhuang Shiyuan looked at Mu Ning and asked, "Have you finished explaining things to Mom? How's the leave application to the hotel and the handover of work going?"
"I haven't said anything yet..." Mu Ning's face stiffened slightly. She had only said it casually, but she didn't expect him to make arrangements so directly.
Zhuang Shiyuan looked directly at her, and Mu Ning slowly lowered her head, feeling guilty and unable to look at his face. "I'm sorry, I'll tell my mom right away."
"Let me explain," Zhuang Shiyuan said helplessly, ruffling her hair. "Is there anything in your luggage that you need to buy separately?"
Mu Ning shook her head, "I haven't packed my luggage yet."
Zhuang Shiyuan paused for a moment, then chuckled softly, "It seems I was right to come back early." He lifted her face and leaned down to kiss her cheek. "Have some soup first. I'll call my mother-in-law and we'll go over there later."
"Okay," Mu Ning quickly buried her head in her bowl, then paused and immediately turned back to ask, "Why did you avoid me when you called my mom?"
Zhuang Shiyuan smiled and said, "Because I don't want you to hear me speaking in a humble tone, so as not to embarrass me."
"Okay," Mu Ning readily agreed.
Zhuang Shiyuan walked away, and Mu Ning held her bowl and drank soup. Bai Xin'ai walked in at this moment and sat opposite her. Mu Ning looked up and asked, "Would you like some soup?"
"No need," Bai Xin'ai refused.
Mu Ning lowered her eyes. Wherever Zhuang Shiyuan appeared, no matter how inappropriate, Bai Xin'ai would always be there. Could this be Bai Xin'ai's purpose? To make her feel uncomfortable at all times?
Zhuang Shiyuan was on the phone for almost half an hour before returning. Bai Xin'ai quickly called out, "Shiyuan, you're back so early today."
Zhuang Shiyuan nodded reluctantly, then sat down next to Mu Ning. "Mom agreed, but I heard it's hard to get leave from the hotel. It seems I'll have to call the manager there."
If I don't call ahead, the hotel might make things difficult for me. My mother-in-law is an honest person; she never speaks up about being ostracized or anything like that.
"Oh," Mu Ning responded softly.
"Is Auntie going too?" Bai Xin'ai asked, interrupting the conversation.
Zhuang Shiyuan glanced at her sideways. "Yes."
Mu Ning buried her head in her soup and didn't say a word. The aunt came out and, seeing Bai Xin'ai there, quickly asked, "Would the second young mistress like some hot soup?"
"Would the young master like some?" Bai Xinai asked.
"Young Master has already drunk his soup," the aunt replied. Men drink soup in just a few sips, while ladies are expected to be more refined.
"Then fill a bowl for me too," Bai Xin'ai said.
The aunt entered the kitchen in response. It wasn't that the second young mistress was difficult to get along with, but... sigh, what kind of situation is this? She's already the second young master's woman, yet she's still eyeing the eldest young master. Is this appropriate? She had already given birth to a child for the Zhuang family, and her family background was good. She should have been favored by the Zhuang family, but she's made herself into this state.
The auntie sighed, poured a bowl of soup for Bai Xin'ai, and Bai Xin'ai said thank you.
After seeing that Mu Ning had finished drinking, Zhuang Shiyuan was about to leave. "Go upstairs and put on another layer of clothing. Go for a walk."
Mu Ning nodded without saying much. The aunt stepped forward and asked, "Are you coming back for dinner tonight?"
Zhuang Shiyuan shook his head, "I won't be back tonight."
"Yes, I will tell the Third Madam," the aunt said respectfully.
Zhuang Shiyuan and Mu Ning went out. Mu Ning got into the car and turned her face to look out the window, saying, "You're so cruel to her."
Zhuang Shiyuan glanced sideways at the woman standing at the door. Mu Ning leaned her head against the car window. "I feel like I'm the bad woman, like I'm the one who interfered in her relationship."
Zhuang Shiyuan smiled reassuringly at her and said, "Don't overthink it. This is her choice. She chose this kind of life, and it has nothing to do with anyone else."
“But we can’t remain unaffected,” Mu Ning said softly.
Zhuang Shiyuan remained silent for a long time. Mu Ning took a deep breath and exhaled, "Her behavior makes me feel so despicable."
"Don't overthink it..." Zhuang Shiyuan paused, "Or, how about we move out?"
"Will my mother-in-law agree?" Mu Ning asked softly.
"I'll talk to Mom if you're willing."
"Let's forget it. You know the rules of the Zhuang family." Mu Ning shook her head. Her son could live alone before he got married, but after he got married, he had to live with his family. Even the Third Master Zhuang couldn't go against the rules, so how could they be an exception?
