Chapter 890 The Sovereign of Nothingness (5)
Chapter 890 The Sovereign of Nothingness (5)
The ancient creator, his hair and beard bristling, knelt on one knee, slamming his hands heavily onto the shattered ground. Countless tiny, ancient golden runes surged from his palms, like living tadpoles, rapidly swimming and connecting, forming a radiant ancient rune array around the crowd.
A golden light barrier formed by the array rose up, temporarily isolating the subsequent ethereal tentacles. The tentacles struck the light barrier, creating ripples. However, this powerful defense lasted for less than three breaths. Fine black spots began to appear on the impacted areas of the light barrier. These spots rapidly spread and connected, eventually causing the entire array pattern to break and peel away like rusted metal, turning into nothingness.
"Rules are inviolable!" The Guardian of the Dimensional Origin gathered his last strength, his hands forming a gesture of reverence. Countless intricate golden chains of rules materialized around him, intertwining and converging to form a golden stream of light purely composed of the pressure of the rules. Like a spear of judgment, it carried an unstoppable momentum, piercing straight towards the Void Lord at the center of the storm. This strike contained the Dimensional Origin's instinctive rejection of "abnormality" and "nothingness." Wherever the golden stream of light passed, even the raging energy storm trembled!
Faced with this attack imbued with the very essence of rules, the Lord of Nothingness finally reacted. He didn't even adopt a clear defensive stance; instead, the surging inky waves around him subtly receded inward, forming a bottomless vortex. The golden light plunged into the vortex, like a mud ox entering the sea, failing to even stir a ripple.
The Guardian of the Dimensional Origin was struck in the chest as if by an invisible giant hammer, flying backward like a cannonball and crashing heavily into the only relatively intact wall at the end of the temple, sinking deep into it. Blinding golden blood gushed from his mouth and from multiple wounds on his body, his aura instantly weakened to the extreme, and his eyes began to glaze over.
The shadow of death loomed over everything. Countless grotesque, ethereal tentacles broke through all remaining obstacles, converging from all directions, their tips opening and closing, emitting silent, hungry hisses, ready to devour these living beings in the next moment.
In that fatal moment, BOOM!!!
In the center of the hall, the fused statue, which had stood silently as if merely an ornament, suddenly erupted with an overwhelming golden light that illuminated the entire universe! The light was so intense that it even briefly dispelled some of the dark shadows within the temple. At the statue's chest, light and shadow violently twisted and converged, and the remnant consciousness of the fused entity took a step forward!
This time, her figure was so solid it seemed real, her skin glowing like jade, her eyes clear and resolute. Her long hair moved without wind, each strand shimmering with tiny points of light. Five fragments of origin—the scorching heat of crimson flames, the chilling cold of frost, the weight of the earth, the wildness of storms, and the rhythm of life—revolved around her like satellites, scattering specks of corresponding light.
Her own primordial light, like a tranquil ocean, spread out gently yet irresistibly from her center, and wherever it reached, even the turbulent energy currents seemed to calm down for a moment.
"Lord of Nothingness!" Her voice was clear yet carried a soul-shaking majesty, echoing throughout the collapsing temple. "Those who wish to devour the billions of beings and infinite possibilities of this era must first ask the light in my hand. The answer is no!"
She stretched out her arms, embracing the void. The five primordial fragments surrounding her simultaneously hummed, their faint light surging, transforming into five streams of light of different colors that shot out and connected with the eternally burning sacred primordial fire at the center of the array beneath the temple.
The golden flames seemed to be infused with new vitality, the tongues of fire leaping dozens of feet high, splitting into countless blazing golden tassels that actively intertwined and entwined with the five-colored light streams, instantly weaving into a magnificent golden light net covering half of the temple! On the light net, sacred runes and the light of origin danced together, radiating a vast aura that purified and created everything.
As soon as the light net was formed, it enveloped the swarming, ethereal tentacles from all directions. When the two came into contact, there was no earth-shattering explosion, but rather a dense series of hissing sounds, like a red-hot iron being plunged into ice water.
The ethereal tentacles, shrouded in the light net, convulsed and twisted violently, thick black smoke rising from their surface. Their form rapidly became illusory and transparent, eventually dissolving and purifying completely, returning to harmless energy particles.
The golden and black energies clashed and annihilated each other at the contact surface, unleashing a series of violent shockwaves. The already crumbling sacred temple could no longer hold on, and the dome began to collapse in large chunks, with huge golden bricks carrying turbulent energy flows crashing down.
For the first time, a flicker of what could be called "surprise" crossed the abyssal eyes of the Lord of Nothingness, but it was quickly overwhelmed by an even more chilling killing intent. "An interesting creation... a fragmented consciousness, having stolen a few primordial powers, dares to confront 'nothingness' itself?"
It no longer held back; its indistinct form seemed to have expanded slightly. An even more powerful void force surged forth from the core of the storm, and the newly grown tentacles not only multiplied in number and became as thick as palace pillars, but their tips even began to evolve into indistinct shapes resembling dragon heads or claws, carrying even stronger devouring and corrosive properties, and fiercely assaulting the golden light net.
The light network trembled violently, its rays flickering on and off, creating a brief stalemate with the dark, surging swarm of tentacles. A massive energy vortex, a chaotic vortex of golden light and black nothingness eroding each other, formed in mid-air, mercilessly engulfing and tearing apart everything within the temple—broken building materials, dissipated energy, and even the light itself.
The fused being at the core of the light network turned deathly pale, her face paling at a visible speed. She could clearly feel the power of the five primordial fragments being rapidly drained, and her own primordial light being consumed violently. The light network, though powerful, was no match for the seemingly endless power of nothingness; defeat was only a matter of time. Once the light network shattered, everyone struggling below, including her own remnant soul, would be instantly devoured.
"We can't fight it head-on; we must find its weakness, or create a glimmer of hope!" Her thoughts raced, her gaze sweeping rapidly before finally settling on the sacred primordial fire below.
The Guardian once said that this fire is a manifestation of the purifying power of the dimensional origin, capable of burning away all evil and falsehood. Perhaps only this most primordial sacred fire can truly threaten the Lord of Nothingness.
She diverted a sliver of her attention, carefully manipulating a wisp of the Origin Light, like the most skillful probe, piercing through the chaotic energy clash zone, attempting to touch and guide the golden flames in the basin, concentrating their power into a flaming spear, aimed directly at the core of the Lord of Nothingness.
However, her intentions seemed to have been detected. The Lord of Nothingness separated a portion of his power, which transformed into a viscous black veil, instantly separating the Light of Origin from the Divine Flame.
The ray of primordial light seemed to have struck glue, its speed drastically reduced. No matter how the fused entity urged it forward, it could not break through the seemingly thin but incredibly tough barrier of nothingness. The flames leaped uneasily in the basin, unable to escape their restraints.
Just as the merged entity felt a slight sinking feeling in its heart, "Ugh!"
