Chapter 247: Disappeared
Chapter 247: Disappeared
Rise was right about the chaos that his disappearance caused. Niftan had asked his subordinates to even track down the taxi and the driver he rode with.
To their surprise, there were no records of the taxi, as though they had been erased. It was not deliberately hiding it either. No. It was as if they had never existed in the first place.
This was not just one of the suspicious points they encountered while searching for Rise’s trails. Niftan was helpless about this, but he could not just give up.
By then, it had been 12 hours since he started searching for his son. Rise’s disappearance was also slowly becoming known due to the commotion Niftan caused.
However, not a lot was invested. It was not just because of Rise’s reputation, but also because everyone was more used to Rise not being in the capital.
"Maybe, he is in some dungeon?"
This was the most common sentiment. If it was before, Niftan could not refute these words. He himself was used to not having contact with Rise for weeks or even months.
Yet, Niftan knew. This time it was different. He had a bad feeling about this. Rise would not just leave to do gate raiding without any notice, especially if Riri was also there.
Niftan had seen how much his son cared for the child. The very reason, too, that he was fond of the child. Aside from his natural charm, no matter his origin, was because of Rise’s obvious care for him.
Niftan sighed.
"I don’t even know what to say to Riri."
The child continued to ask him, and until now had not eaten dinner. What he could do was continue to mobilize his subordinates. Niftan did not care if he was doing any false alarms.
Around the same time, Kamille, who was back in the headquarters of the Dark Crimson Guild, was immediately swamped with work. He originally thought he would be uncomfortable or be repulsed when faced with Hayes, but it seemed years of familiarity were still inside of him.
Kamille still felt genuine care for Hayes and the Dark Crimson Guild as a whole. Perhaps because he knew that the former Guild Leader was almost like his father, though they never acknowledged it.
It was also a guild he associated with her, Kana.
"This and this. Guild Leader, our license rights with them are expiring. We have to renew them since it has been profitable for us."
These mundane things, which Kamille found useless for the current him, settled his mood for a while. But only for a while. A few hours after he started his work, Kamille suddenly felt a foreboding feeling.
It was a kind that he could not just ignore. Kamille frowned heavily, and he stopped what he was doing.
Hayes, who was standing beside him and helping him, immediately noticed it.
"Guild Leader?"
Kamille could not care less to answer him. With a heavy expression, Kamille took his phone and decided to call Rise. The crease in his brows became deeper when his call was dropped because the phone was turned off.
He raised his hand in front of Hayes, wanting him to stop talking. Kamille was not in the mood right now as he dialled once more.
It was the same situation. Kamille’s expression darkened even further, and even the foreboding sensation lingered inside of him. He suddenly stood up from his seat, startling Hayes.
"What happened, Guild Leader?" Hayes was about to ask for more, but the words became stuck in his throat when he met Kamille’s blazing gaze.
His pupils with a touch of crimson flashed with menacing light, sending shivers down Hayes’ spine that he almost hiccuped in fear.
"Prepare the aircraft. I’ll return to the capital," Kamille ordered, not waiting for any answer from Hayes as he directly left the room.
Hayes blinked and watched Kamille’s retreating back, and he shifted his gaze to the pile of papers on the table. Only then did he hiccup.
He took a deep breath. Well... This paperwork could wait.
With that decision, even if crying inside, Hayes proceeded to prepare the aircraft. He could not even ask why the Guild Leader, who had just returned and had not even been a whole day yet, and who was also diligently doing his work, had become like a different person.
What exactly happened?
Kamille also did not know. However, his instincts told him something terribly had gone wrong. He was not one to disregard this feeling.
"Ask our informants in the capital if there’s any major news. I want to know everything, especially about Rise Lee."
Kamille seemed to only say that in the air, but a shadow went past behind him and left to obey his order.
As for him, he continued to call Rise’s phone to no avail. Kamille’s pace increased, urgency heavy in his footsteps. He did not wait for any confirmation or for everything to be completely prepared.
Hayes was still fast, and he immediately contacted the personnel to prepare Kamille’s personal aircraft. When he arrived there, it was already prepared. Eunbin was also there waiting for him.
He walked past Eunbin and entered the aircraft. Eunbin spoke by this time, which made Kamille pause. He slowly turned to Eunbin, who had his head bowed, not daring to look Kasmille in the eye.
The air around them gradually became so suffocating that Eunbin had to force himself to maintain his form; otherwise, he might collapse on the ground.
"Rise disappeared?"
Kamille’s tone was eerily calm, but Eunbin’s hands trembled, and his face went pale. Without looking at the Guild Leader, the other knew that his mood was highly unusual.
Eunbin gritted his teeth and nodded.
"The Union general started search parties for him..." He paused and caught his breath. His chest tightened from the unusual air that surrounded them.
Eunbin failed to see just how Kamille’s gaze turned dark crimson, and his jaw tightened to a dangerous degree. He looked outside and decided.
"Continue monitoring the situation." Kamille did not even know how he managed to say it calmly. He was like a powder keg about to explode any minute now.
He strode toward the door, and Eunbin looked at him in confusion.
"I’ll go alone."
Kamille was faster than this aircraft. His reason was still there. Without confirmation, Kamille would not rashly do anything. However, sitting leisurely in such an aircraft was out of the question.
He ignored Eunbin’s reactions and the others’ exclamations. There was only one thing on his mind.
To see Rise.
He shot up to the sky, and his pace became faster and faster.
Please be fine, Rise.
