Chapter 529 Jia Fei and Lin Ning
Chapter 529 Jia Fei and Lin Ning
“Hey Art, what’s wrong with you? I’m asking Ja, not you!” Kemba Walker said, feigning displeasure.
"What Art wants to ask is exactly what I want to ask: what's going on between you two?" Jia Fei smiled and squinted at the two guests.
"This..." Lamb and Kemba Walker looked at each other, unsure of what to say.
"Spit it out if you have something to say!" Jia Fei said calmly, seemingly unconcerned about his surroundings, appearing completely open and honest.
"Do you have a rumored girlfriend right now?" Kemba Walker asked tentatively.
"Girlfriend? Not really, just a rumor?" Jia Fei said with a mocking expression.
"Don't you read the news? There's always a pretty Asian girl near your bench, and you even threw your jersey to her to wash before. It's all in the news!" Kemba Walker said.
“Okay!” Jia Fei didn’t really pay much attention to this kind of gossip news, but he didn’t expect Kemba Walker to be so much more free than him, and to be reading this kind of stuff all the time.
"Don't you need to explain?" Kemba Walker pressed.
"I have nothing to explain, we have absolutely no relationship!" Jia Fei shrugged, his expression unchanged.
“You…” Kemba Walker was about to press further when Art Mayok interrupted him, “I’m telling you, Kemba, I can vouch for you that Ja and this girl aren’t like what you’re describing in the news.”
“What does Art, that old virgin, know? Ja might have been having an affair behind your back for a long time!” Kemba Walker didn’t believe Art Mayork’s words at all.
“Yeah, Art, why are you keeping yourself celibate? When Ja gets married, you won’t even have a girlfriend. Do you really want to keep using your hands to solve your problems?” Lamb couldn’t help but start talking to Art Mayork.
"Have you always solved problems with your feet, your ass, and your mouth?" Art Mayor retorted.
"Kemba, this Art is getting more and more filthy. You have to be my witness. I always solve problems with my hands!" Lamb said confidently.
Jia Fei, who was standing to the side, laughed until his stomach hurt.
It's really fun being with these close friends. Although we tease each other, our friendship is truly exceptional. Even now, back in the NCAA, we've maintained a great relationship.
Lin Ning came again that night.
Why shouldn't Jia Fei avoid suspicion? Even if he and Lin Ning are in a romantic relationship, it's not illegal! They're both unmarried.
Before the match started, Kemba Walker deliberately walked up to Lin Ning with a smile and said, "Jia is a good man, you should cherish him!" After saying that, he left without listening to anything Lin Ning said.
Lin Ning was a little confused, but she wasn't stupid. Of course, she knew that the short, baby-faced player was Kemba Walker, the Hornets' star player. She also knew that Kemba Walker and Jia Fei were very good friends.
In an instant, she understood the meaning behind the other person's words. She knew who "Jia" was, but she had no relation to Jia Fei!
Lin Ning's face flushed slightly, but thankfully no one around her was paying attention, which made her breathe a sigh of relief.
In that night's game, the stronger Clippers still had the last laugh, achieving their sixth consecutive victory.
After the game, Jia Fei returned to the locker room and saw that Lin Ning had sent him a message containing Kemba Walker's words.
Jia Fei had a headache. That damn Kemba Walker was really only making things worse. Dude, you're going to scare the girl away!
Lin Ning said she no longer wants to go to Staples Center to watch games live, as she feels her relationship with Jia Fei is making her a public figure.
Jia Fei didn't know what to say, only saying, "Let's talk about it later."
These past few days, Jia Fei has found himself slowly starting to like Lin Ning. He doesn't know if it's because he hasn't had a girlfriend in so long or if Lin Ning really does have something that touches him, but he feels especially comfortable seeing her watching the game from the sidelines.
Jia Fei was a time traveler; he wasn't just a little kid. He clearly understood the basic principles and logic of relationships between the sexes. He knew what constituted a minefield and what was taboo.
For example, it requires a shift in an important mindset: instead of pursuing women, it's about attracting them.
Men and women are fundamentally different animals. If you always try to understand women's thoughts from a male perspective, you are likely to be stuck in a dead end.
Just like with Lin Ning now, he didn't pursue her. He was her idol, and he was communicating with her in his own way. He showed off his wealth (tickets) and ability (on-court performance). If even this didn't attract her in the slightest, then it was destined that she would find it difficult to get closer to him.
Furthermore, women are very reserved and afraid of making choices, needing a man to guide them. So don't pressure her or force her to make a choice; this will annoy her, make her easily choose to escape, and over time, she will become afraid.
The logic is simple: as a man, you shouldn't pressure women, because they are always afraid of making choices.
Jia Fei didn't pressure Lin Ning; he didn't want her to think that his wealth and fame allowed him to completely disregard her wishes.
That night, Jia Fei didn't explain or clarify anything. His behavior made Lin Ning realize after returning home that she had been too sensitive. Clearly, this had nothing to do with Jia Fei; it was just a prank by his friend.
Jia Fei knew that women's thinking was easily swayed, especially by the people around them (such as their best friends). He didn't know who Lin Ning's best friend was, but he knew who had introduced Lin Ning to him, so he contacted the matchmaker directly.
The matchmaker was Zhou Ling'an. She was somewhat surprised to receive Jia Fei's message, but after the surprise came joy. If Lin Ning and Jia Fei really got together, she would be greatly credited.
Given Jia Fei's status in the basketball world, and the fact that she helped him, he certainly wouldn't forget the matchmaker. Zhou Ling'an knew perfectly well the value of a league's star player.
Rich Paul, now a top agent, was just a street vendor selling basketball jerseys before he met Running Man. But who dares to underestimate him now?
Zhou Ling'an had previously gained considerable fame in North American sports journalism circles due to her relationship with Jia Fei, which had also made her quite wealthy. Becoming Jia Fei's close friend, however, would offer extremely promising prospects in terms of both career and finances.
Zhou Ling'an was also clever. Jia Fei's initiative in asking her meant that there was something going on between Jia Fei and Lin Ning, but she couldn't be too gossipy and ask too many questions. She knew that men didn't like women who were too gossipy. So even if she had a million questions in her mind, she could only keep them to herself and be his answering machine—that was the best outcome.
