Chapter 222 God-given Son
Chapter 222 God-given Son
Waaah! Maybe I'm just an unlucky person, destined never to have a grandson in this lifetime?
Merciful and compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva, can you please tell me? What did I do wrong? Why must our Xiao family line end? When I was young, I was pregnant five or six times, but only one was a son; the rest were all daughters.
So if my only daughter-in-law can't conceive, wouldn't that be... ...
After Grandma Kui's mother-in-law finished speaking, she suddenly knelt on the floor, put her hands together, and bowed to the sky.
When Guanyin Bodhisattva saw Granny Kui crying like this, she shook her head helplessly. She really wanted to give Granny Kui another pair of twins, but when Granny Kui descended to earth to help the disaster-stricken villagers, she specifically looked through the Book of Good and Evil.
This notebook contains a detailed record of every good and bad deed done by the villagers. Among them, Grandma Kui did the most good deeds, but she was an unfortunate person who was born into a family that favored sons over daughters.
In Grandma Kui's family home, a woman had to be able to do every kind of housework. Otherwise, she would be constantly bullied by her elders, and if she didn't do one thing well, she wouldn't get to eat that day.
Because Grandma Kui had experienced prolonged hunger before, whenever she saw someone who hadn't eaten for days and nights, she would share the food she had with them! It was because Grandma Kui always loved to do good deeds and acts of kindness.
Therefore, Granny Kui has accumulated a great deal of good fortune! She is destined to have both a son and a daughter in this life. It's just a pity that she married into a family that makes a living by slaughtering pigs all day long, which is the main reason why Granny Kui has not been able to conceive a child for many years after marrying into her husband's family.
How about it? Merciful Guanyin Bodhisattva, please bestow upon our Xiao family a chubby, healthy baby boy.
Hi! Didn't I just send a pair of twins into your daughter-in-law's belly? It's just a pity that your Xiao family really doesn't have any luck in keeping these twins that God has blessed you with.
At this point, Guanyin Bodhisattva could only shake her head helplessly! Because on that day, when she was taking a walk in the Heavenly Court, she encountered Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, who was coming up from Hell.
How did you manage to crawl out of hell? I remember you swore that you wouldn't become a Buddha until you saved all the people who had fallen into hell.
Yes, yes! Haven't I always kept this promise? But I encountered a problem in hell. There was a kind woman who was now forty years old. Originally, when she was 24, she was supposed to have a baby boy reincarnated as her son.
However, because her husband's family had made a living by slaughtering pigs for generations, the karmic debt of killing they had accumulated was boundless. When this baby boy was to be reborn into this kind woman's womb, he was hindered by the beings that her husband's family had killed and eaten, so this kind woman has not yet conceived.
You didn't crawl out of hell because of this, did you?
Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva nodded to Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva, then, as if remembering something, whispered in Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva's ear, "Perhaps you would be so kind as to use your magic to grant this kind woman a pair of twins, a boy and a girl?"
Oh! How can this be allowed? You know that whether a person can have children in this life, and how many children they can have, is determined long before they are reincarnated. Even though we are Bodhisattvas, we cannot arbitrarily change a person's destiny!
But Guanyin Bodhisattva, if you look through the record of good and evil, you'll see how many good deeds that woman I just mentioned has done for ordinary people over the years. The field of blessings she has cultivated is truly boundless!
If we hadn't blessed her with a perfect couple, perhaps there would be a saying in the world: "Doing good deeds will always be rewarded?" No! No! Absolutely not!
Just look at that old lady surnamed Kui and you'll know! Doing good deeds doesn't necessarily bring good results; some ill-intentioned people will spread rumors and distort the good deeds that old lady Kui has done.
Some people who don't understand the truth might think that doing good deeds doesn't necessarily bring good fortune. Look at how many good things that old lady surnamed Kui has done for us, yet she still hasn't gotten pregnant.
I think it won't be long before she's kicked out of her home by her wicked mother-in-law. Guanyin Bodhisattva, how can you bear to see such a kind person go down a bad path just because she can't stand the gossip of others?
Guanyin Bodhisattva shook her head helplessly upon hearing what Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva said.
It's not that I'm unwilling to give this kind-hearted woman a pair of well-behaved and adorable children! It's just that her family slaughters two to three pigs every day. The karmic debt of killing they incur is truly immense!
Having spent so much time in hell, you know why no one is ever reborn into her family as a child. Even if someone were to be reborn into their family as a child, they would be a dull and stupid person.
If only a woman of unparalleled beauty were willing to transform into an ordinary village girl and descend to earth to enlighten this family, so they would no longer make a living by killing animals.
Haha! Ksitigarbha Bodhisattva, you want me to transform into a village girl and descend to earth to enlighten this family? Just say it directly, why beat around the bush like this? Actually, to be honest, I really am going to descend to the mortal world for a while now.
This happens to be the village where your mother-in-law lives, as you mentioned. Because a major disaster is about to occur in this village.
My purpose in descending to the mortal realm this time is to rescue some well-behaved people from this disaster.
Not only that, but to prevent this village from perishing in this great disaster, I will teach the villagers to pick a wild grass called Nan Gu in the fields.
Haha! I didn't expect you, Guanyin Bodhisattva, to be so humorous! When you descended to the mortal realm to undergo your tribulation, did you hear who the people were or how they addressed you?
Are you trying to remind me that people call me the Goddess of Fertility, and that in a very small village, almost every household has a picture of her? That's because so very few people are born into that village!
It is no exaggeration to say that this small village may disappear from the world in ten years.
Hmm! Don't you think it's a bit of a shame that such a beautiful, ethereal village has disappeared from this world? Although the village was small, all the people who lived there were incredibly kind-hearted and devoted to Buddhism.
It's no exaggeration to say that this little village is the only way to our Western Paradise! But there's one thing I really can't understand: why would such a wonderful little village suffer such a devastating blow?
