Chapter 31 Returning Home
Chapter 31 Returning Home
In the blink of an eye, they found Murong Jing and Shen Muyue's carriage waiting at the door, quite a grand affair.
Su Mowan glanced indifferently at Murong Jing, who had just left the mansion, then decisively boarded the carriage and set off first.
As soon as the carriage set off, Qinghe couldn't contain herself any longer; her big, watery eyes were filled with surprise.
"Consort Su, the Prince has actually sent Lord Chao to escort you!"
Su Mowan turned her head and saw that Yinshuang's eyes were also full of surprise.
"Lord Chao? You mean the one walking at the very front?"
Su Mowan lifted the curtain and looked outside. The person in the lead was dressed in black on horseback, with a handsome face and an extraordinary aura.
It's that super handsome guy who just greeted her.
Qinghe nodded vigorously: "Yes, that's it! Lord Chao is one of the eighteen most powerful riders in the Prince's Snow Shadow Guard, and he's the deputy commander of the Snow Shadow Guard! He's much more powerful than Brother Feng!"
Su Mowan was a little surprised. She knew that the Snow Shadow Guard and the Eighteen Ghost Riders were Murong Jing's most powerful trump card.
She was just going back to her parents' home; did she really need to bring the deputy commander of the Snow Shadow Guard?
Su Mowan lowered the curtain and pouted.
"Your prince is too timid. It's less than ten miles from the Prince of Qin's residence to the General's residence. Is it really necessary to be so cautious? And it's broad daylight."
Yinshuang's lips moved slightly, and she calmly said, "Perhaps the Prince sent Lord Chao not because he was afraid of any accidents, but just to maintain appearances."
Qinghe agreed wholeheartedly: "Yes! Consort Su, this is to show how much the Prince values you! I never expected the Prince to be so considerate!"
"..."
If Murong Jing could be considerate, she would be on top of the world!
Qinghe clung to the carriage window, gazing at Lord Chao with infatuation the whole way. When the carriage reached the entrance of Zhuque Street, she suddenly called out to Su Mowan, who was resting with her eyes closed.
"Consort Su! It looks like a carriage from the Chu Prince's residence is coming from that direction!"
Su Mowan opened her eyes, paused for a moment, and then said, "Don't worry about it, let's go our own way."
"We can't just ignore them! They're blocking our way! We can't get through!"
"Suzaku Street is so wide, how could we not get through?"
Su Mowan frowned.
Before Qinghe could answer, a clear voice came from outside.
"Consort Su, His Highness Prince Chu's carriage is approaching. Shall we step aside?"
It is the sound of the rising sun.
"Then please step back, Your Excellency, and let's wait a while. Let His Highness Prince Chu pass first." After saying this, Su Mowan leaned against the carriage wall and closed her eyes.
Qinghe muttered under her breath, "His Highness Prince Chu is so unreasonable. We were the ones who arrived at the street corner first."
Yinshuang whispered, "Qinghe, don't say anything."
Su Mowan leaned against the carriage wall, but her heart was not at peace.
The sound of the carriage was getting closer and closer. Murong Jin must be accompanying Su Huayue on her return visit to her parents' home. They would inevitably meet again soon.
Just then, the sound of the carriage stopped beside them, and a clear, melodious voice rang out.
"Su Er?"
The only person who would call her that is Murong Jin.
Su Mowan hesitated for three seconds before replying calmly, "It's me, Your Highness, what can I do for you?"
"What could have happened? His Highness and I saw my sister's carriage parked here and were worried that something might have happened to it."
A voice that made one's teeth itch was interrupted.
Su Mowan's lips curled into a mocking smile: "I'm sorry to have troubled Your Highness, Prince Chu. I'm fine here, please go ahead."
Murong Jin said, "Since there's no problem with the carriage, Su Er, you can go first."
Pulling back the curtain, Su Mowan peeked out with an expressionless face: "Your Highness, please go first. It's just a homecoming visit; it doesn't matter who arrives first or last."
Murong Jin's smile froze.
He looked at her, his eyes filled with complex emotions, which he eventually concealed: "Alright then, we'll be going now."
After saying that, he glanced at Su Mowan again and then closed the curtain.
Only after the Chu Prince's carriage had disappeared from sight did Su Mowan allow Chaoyang to set off again.
Qinghe hesitated for a long time, but couldn't help but say, "Consort Su, why do I feel that Princess Chu and Consort Shen look so alike..."
Yinshuang glanced at her indifferently, and Qinghe pouted.
Su Mowan laughed out loud: "You're quite good at judging people. You're similar to Shen Muyue, both from the same sect, the White Lotus Sect."
After about the time it takes to drink a cup of tea, the carriage finally arrived at the gate of the General's Mansion.
Yinshuang jumped off the carriage first, helped Qinghe up, and then Su Mowan.
The second carriage was full of gift boxes. Granny Wei, accompanied by two second-class maids, got off the third carriage.
Su Mowan was about to instruct Yinshuang and Qinghe to go and help her get the things when she turned around and saw that Murong Jin and Su Huayue were still standing outside the gate, and Murong Jin even smiled at her.
Before Su Mowan could give any instructions, Chaoyang waved his hand, and the sixteen guards dismounted, handed the reins to the servants who came out of the general's mansion to greet them, and then came over to carry the gift boxes.
The sight of this procession left the steward and servants, who had come out to greet them, completely bewildered.
Su Mowan smiled at the rising sun and walked towards the gate with Qinghe Yinshuang.
"Why are you so slow, little sister? The prince and I have been waiting for quite a while." Su Huayue spoke with a smile before she even got close.
Su Mowan smiled too.
"Why would you wait for me? I'm not the one who's eager to go home. By the way, please give my regards to Madam. I won't be going over there for now."
After saying that, she turned to Yinshuang and Qinghe who were following behind her and said, "Let's go, come back to the North Courtyard with me first."
Su Huayue's expression changed, and she reached out to stop her, saying, "What do you mean by that, sister? We're getting married on the same day, so naturally we should go together to let Father and Mother know we're safe!"
Su Mowan gently brushed her hand away, and said with a half-smile, "I don't need to say it myself, Father and Madam already know that I'm doing very well."
Su Huayue grabbed her sleeve directly.
"Now that you're back, don't be so inconsiderate! You should at least offer your father and mother a cup of tea!"
Su Mowan ignored her and said directly to Murong Jin, "Your Highness, please do me a favor."
Murong Jin's eyes were full of guilt as she pulled Su Huayue aside, saying, "Stop fooling around. Let's hurry inside. The General and his wife must be getting impatient."
Su Huayue glared angrily at Su Mowan and reluctantly let go.
Su Mowan stepped through the door with her head held high.
Arriving at the North Courtyard, Su Mowan pushed open the door and stepped inside.
Yinshuang and Qinghe glanced at the overly simple courtyard and looked at each other in bewilderment.
Su Mowan stopped under a pear tree.
"Yinshuang, bring the shovel over."
Yinshuang glanced around and sure enough, there was a rusty iron shovel in the corner.
Su Mowan took the shovel and was about to start digging when Yinshuang immediately said, "Let me do it."
Yinshuang had a lot of strength in her hands, and in no time she had dug a big hole.
Su Mowan waved her hand, "That's about enough, I'll take care of the rest."
After another half-cup of tea time, Su Mowan finally stopped what she was doing and pulled a neatly folded thin cloth out of the soil.
When you open it, there's a jade plaque inside.
Qinghe stared at it curiously, while Yinshuang's expression changed slightly.
