Chapter 585 The Pool at the Valley Entrance
Chapter 585 The Pool at the Valley Entrance
Yan Lina looked at Bai Mengyan with a blank expression. "Huh? I heard wolf howls and thunder, and I was in a hurry to get on my way, so I didn't pay attention to that."
Her eyes darted around, and she immediately pressed, "What? Does your sister like wolf skin?"
Yan Lina's expression was uncertain, as if she was in a bit of a predicament. "But they all just left, and it would be troublesome to catch one now. It might take some time. If you like, I can do it."
Bai Mengyan's face stiffened, and she slapped Yan Lina's forehead. "No, those wolves are useful, we can't let them go to waste. Let's go."
The two chatted as they walked, at the very back of the group.
Leng Yuexiu walked at the front, looking at the topographical map on his wristwatch, and called Su Jiancheng to his side.
Su Jiancheng reverted to her usual carefree self, "The boss really knows how to do things. He strikes anyone he doesn't like with lightning. That's so domineering."
Leng Yuexiu glanced at him sideways and asked as they walked, "How long will it take you to advance your fire element to the second tier?"
Su Jiancheng was taken aback, and her face fell.
"Boss, you really have no humanity. You haven't forgotten that I just advanced to the first level. You have to give me some time."
Leng Yuexiu snorted coldly, "Heh, you don't act like a vice-captain at all. If you don't want to be dragged down and doomed one day, you'd better improve your superpower. I'm not kidding you."
Su Jiancheng's expression changed noticeably. He scrutinized Leng Yuexiu's face and tentatively asked, "You noticed?"
Leng Yuexiu's expression was unfriendly, his eyes sharp and cold as if he could see through her little tricks.
He concluded directly: "Cheng Kaixi has a good foundation, but he's still not quite ready to be a top-notch talent. You need to give him a good talking-to, make him stumble and suffer a painful lesson, otherwise he'll cause serious trouble in the future."
Su Jiancheng's mind raced and a mischievous idea came to her. She grinned and said, "That's easy. We'll bind the little princess to him and arrange some 'coincidences' to make him mistakenly believe that the little princess is seriously injured. That'll be enough to teach him a lesson."
In an instant, memories of the underground trial at the headquarters of the No. 3 Time-Space Imperial Capital Teleportation Array flooded back, with scenes of Cheng Kaixi pointing a pistol at the back of Bai Mengyan's head flashing through his mind.
If faced with the same situation again, he would probably not take the same risks as last time.
During his time in the Seventh War Zone, he personally experienced the pain of parting from Bai Mengyan, a feeling he would never want to go through again, nor would he want her to be in danger.
Almost the instant Su Jiancheng finished speaking, Leng Yuexiu refused without hesitation, saying, "No."
Su Jiancheng knew, of course, that Leng Yuexiu would never use Bai Mengyan as a "training method," and looked disappointed, saying, "I knew you wouldn't be willing to do that."
"This isn't a matter of whether or not to give it up. With Xiao Yan's current strength, if he were to forcefully unleash the full potential of his dual-elemental abilities, he could almost reverse the situation. This is a test for Xiao Yan; it's not his turn to make a move."
Su Jiancheng couldn't help but gasp. Since he returned to the team, Bai Mengyan had mostly taken on the role of support.
However, it cannot be ignored that her abilities do indeed prove surprisingly effective at crucial moments.
In Su Jiancheng's eyes, Bai Mengyan's abilities and status were perfectly worthy of the title of princess, the youngest heir of the Bai family.
Aside from her sometimes naive understanding, it's undeniable that only she can match Leng Yuexiu's strength.
If Bai Mengyan and Cheng Kaixi were really tied together to complete some difficult and complex tasks, it would really be a bargain for Cheng Kaixi; there's really no need for that.
Seeing that Su Jiancheng remained silent, Leng Yuexiu continued, "The allocation of crystal energy within the team, apart from what Xiao Yan and I kept, is for everyone's use. You will handle the rest. The team's rank system cannot be overridden; this is an ironclad rule. You understand the importance of this."
Su Jiancheng had no objections and agreed to everything.
This clearly points out the potential danger of Cheng Kaixi amplifying her supernatural abilities without authorization, which almost caused an accident. How could Su Jiancheng not know this?
"Yes, I understand. I'll have Snow Leopard cooperate with me to generate detailed records and archive the number and whereabouts of the crystal energy bodies, following our usual practice."
He paused for a moment, then added, "Before returning to headquarters, I promise to raise my ability to the second tier."
Su Jiancheng's guarantee was substantial. How could someone who could overcome the pain left by his psychic powers and forcefully break through his own limits be anything less than excellent?
Leng Yuexiu said nothing more and silently continued to lead the people forward.
Without the interference and pursuit of wolves, the remaining journey was even easier than hiking in the mountains.
They were about to meet up with Gray and the other two, so there was no need to speed up their journey and make the atmosphere of the group seem anxious and uneasy.
After passing a towering tree, looking into the distance, the natural exit of the mountain stream is just beyond the horizon.
At the vanishing point at the end, two black dots were moving around; they were two human figures.
Leng Yuexiu paused, and Su Jiancheng followed his gaze, trying her best to make out what it was, but she couldn't figure it out; it was just too far away.
"That is……"
The rabbit recognized the shadowy figure and exclaimed with delight, "It's Gray and Wu Wei!"
Everyone else unconsciously looked towards the end of the ravine and quickly discerned two tiny black dots moving and gradually growing larger.
Niu Erzhu was dumbfounded. "Holy crap, they were so far away, and Brother Rabbit didn't even notice, but Captain Leng saw it?"
Snow Leopard, Black Hawk, and the others were already used to it and thoroughly enjoyed the newcomers' admiration and worship for their captain.
The other side had obviously noticed their group as well, since they were a bigger and easier target to spot. After a slight pause, they rushed toward them at an even faster speed.
Finally able to reunite with the last group of members, Leng Yuexiu was also very excited, and thankfully Hui was able to handle the situation and even saved Wu Wei.
His voice carried a hint of laughter, "It's them."
Looking at the pool ahead, which was simply outlined with stones, he called out to the group, "Let's wait for them by the pool."
The pool was only a dozen meters away from them, while the two of them were still hundreds of meters away.
After they stopped by the pool, they looked at the two men again. Gray was waving his hands frantically, as if warning them.
Su Jiancheng sat down on the largest rock by the pool, crossed her legs, and teased, "Haven't seen you in so long, isn't Hui being a bit too enthusiastic? It's like there's a ghost chasing us, Wu Wei can hardly keep up."
The rabbit stared at them, and its expression changed after it saw Gray pull off his mask and read his lips. "Boss, Gray is warning us not to go near the pool."
Leng Yuexiu's eyes narrowed, and he flicked his toe to pick up a pebble from the ground and sent it flying towards the direction where Su Jiancheng was sitting.
With his other hand, he grabbed Su Jiancheng's shoulder and pulled her back with a swift and decisive motion.
With a splash, the pebble struck the creature leaping out of the water with a soft thud, like a bullet.
It was a fish, a fish with a very strange shape.
Blood burst from where the gills met the body, and the fish, losing its strength, fell into the water.
