Chapter 11 The Truth
Chapter 11 The Truth
The light of wisdom
Wu Xinyan closed her eyes, trying to recall every detail of the dinner. Miss Zhou's unusual behavior, Mr. Luo's meaningful look, and the servants' casual revelations...it all felt like a tangled mess, impossible to unravel.
Suddenly, a flash of inspiration struck Wu Xinyan. That night, she had stumbled upon Miss Zhou and Mr. Luo whispering outside the study. Although the conversation was brief, it was enough to arouse her suspicion.
Thinking of this, Wu Xinyan suddenly opened her eyes, and a bold plan gradually took shape in her mind. She pretended to be obedient, secretly observing the surrounding environment, looking for any opportunity to exploit.
Wu Xinyan discovered that the factory's control room seemed to be unguarded. She seized the opportunity, avoided the bodyguards' sight, and sneaked into the control room.
In the monitoring room, a computer was playing real-time images from the factory. Wu Xinyan's eyes fell on the computer screen, and a familiar folder caught her attention.
That was Miss Zhou's private email address. Wu Xinyan took a deep breath, her heartbeat quickening. She tried entering Miss Zhou's birthday, but the password was wrong! She gritted her teeth and entered Mr. Luo's birthday. Emails popped up on the screen, all dated around the time of the dinner.
Wu Xinyan flipped through the emails one by one, her expression growing increasingly grim. The contents were shocking: correspondence between Miss Zhou and Mr. Luo, evidence of their planning the dinner, and even evidence of their illicit transfer of company assets. Everything lay before Wu Xinyan's eyes, laid bare.
"So, this was all your conspiracy!" Wu Xinyan clenched her fists tightly, her eyes blazing with anger. She copied all the emails to a USB drive and quietly left the monitoring room.
Three days later, a tense family meeting was underway in the Luo family mansion. Wu Xinyan sat beside Luo Yichen, calmly surveying everyone present, including the pale-faced Miss Zhou and the feigned composure of Mr. Luo.
"Today, I want to reveal a truth to everyone." Wu Xinyan's voice was soft, but loud enough for everyone to hear clearly. She opened the USB drive in her hand and projected the contents onto the big screen. "Regarding that dinner, I think everyone is clear about the truth."
The conference room erupted in an uproar. Everyone looked at Miss Zhou and Mr. Luo with eyes filled with shock and anger... Miss Zhou and Mr. Luo's faces instantly turned pale, as if all the blood had been drained away. Their lips trembled, but they could not refute. The contents of the email clearly recorded their crimes, and every line was like a sharp blade, ruthlessly tearing through their disguise.
"No, this is not true! These are all forged. Wu Xinyan deliberately framed us!" Miss Zhou defended herself at the top of her voice, but her voice sounded so pale and weak.
Mr. Luo Er also tried to quibble, but was defeated by Mr. Luo's majestic gaze. He slumped in his chair, knowing that everything was over. The plan he had painstakingly worked on for many years finally failed.
Luo Yichen looked at everything in front of him, with a complex emotion in his eyes. He had always known that Mr. Luo was dissatisfied with him, but he did not expect him to be so cruel and even willing to hurt Wu Xinyan to achieve his goal.
"Xinyan, thank you." Luo Yichen turned his head and looked at Wu Xinyan affectionately, his eyes full of gratitude and admiration. He knew that without Wu Xinyan's courage and wisdom, they might never know the truth.
Wu Xinyan met Luo Yichen's gaze and smiled faintly, her words saying everything. This incident had made her see the true nature of people and made her cherish the person in front of her even more.
As Mr. Luo watched the scene unfold, a flicker of relief crossed his cloudy eyes. He had always harbored resentment towards his grandson's wife, Wu Xinyan, believing her unworthy. But this incident had made him see Wu Xinyan's wisdom and courage, as well as the bond between her and Luo Yichen. Perhaps, she truly could become a good daughter-in-law for the Luo family.
Mr. Luo cleared his throat and said slowly: "I will give everyone an explanation about this matter." He turned his gaze to Mrs. Luo, who had been silent, with a hint of inquiry in his tone.
Mrs. Luo had been observing all this silently, an inexplicable glint in her eyes. She slowly stood up, gracefully walked over to Wu Xinyan, gently shook her hand, and a meaningful smile played on her lips... Mrs. Luo gently patted Wu Xinyan's hand, her eyes full of admiration. "Xinyan, you did a great job." Her tone was gentle, yet filled with unquestionable authority. "The Luo family doesn't need people who will harm us, and we will not tolerate anyone harming my grandson."
Her words were resounding, each one hammering at the hearts of everyone present. Mr. Luo and Miss Zhou's faces paled, their bodies trembling slightly. They knew that what awaited them would be the Luo family's wrath.
Chef Wang, who had been silent the entire time, suddenly fell to his knees, tears streaming down his face. "Master, Madam, I'm so sorry to the Luo family! I'm so sorry to the young master and mistress!"
"Tell me, what is going on?" Mr. Luo asked in a deep voice, his sharp eyes seemed to see through everything.
Chef Wang raised his head tremblingly, glanced at Wu Xinyan, then at Luo Yichen, took a deep breath, and laid bare the details of his dealings with Miss Zhou and Mr. Luo. He confessed how Miss Zhou had threatened his family's safety, how he had tampered with the ingredients under Mr. Luo's instructions, and how, under Wu Xinyan's questioning, his conscience had come to him and he finally chose to tell the truth.
Chef Wang's testimony was like the last straw that broke the camel's back, completely destroying Miss Zhou and Mr. Luo's psychological defenses. They knew they had no room for excuses.
"Evil creature!" Old Master Luo was enraged. He slammed the table and stood up, pointing at Second Master Luo and angrily scolded, "How could I give birth to a person as vicious as you! You disappoint me so much!"
Luo Yichen watched the scene unfold with mixed emotions. He had always known that Second Master Luo was unhappy with him, but he had never imagined he could be so vicious, even willing to harm innocent lives. He looked at Wu Xinyan, his eyes filled with guilt and gratitude.
Wu Xinyan felt Luo Yichen's gaze and returned it with a resolute look. She knew that this struggle was not only for herself, but also for their common future.
Mrs. Luo walked over to Wu Xinyan, gently helped her up, and said in a gentle but firm tone: "Xinyan, don't worry, from now on, you are the real mistress of the Luo family, and no one can bully you!"
Wu Xinyan looked at Mrs. Luo with gratitude, her heart filled with warmth. She knew that she had finally gained the Luo family's recognition.
Mr. Luo looked at the young couple in front of him, feeling a surge of emotion. He spoke slowly, his tone a little tired but also full of hope: "Yichen, Xinyan, I hope you can remember the lessons of today and work together to create a better future."
Luo Yichen held Wu Xinyan's hand tightly, his eyes firm: "Grandpa, don't worry, I will definitely protect Xinyan, and together with her..."
Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by a rapid knock on the door.
"Come in!" Luo Yichen said impatiently, his displeasure clearly visible between his brows. The usually well-trained butler seemed a little flustered at this moment. He quickly walked over to Mr. Luo and reported something in a low voice.
Mr. Luo, who was originally furious, looked more and more unhappy as the butler reported. Finally, he sighed heavily and waved his hand to signal the butler to leave.
"Grandpa, what happened?" Luo Yichen realized the seriousness of the matter and walked to the old man and asked in a low voice.
Mr. Luo rubbed his temples tiredly and said in a heavy tone, "There's news from the hospital, saying..."
Before he could finish his words, he was interrupted by Mr. Luo's sharp voice: "Brother, this is all a misunderstanding! Xinyan is young and naive, so she would suspect Miss Zhou and me. How could we do such a thing?"
Mr. Luo's defense was weak and feeble. He had long since lost his previous arrogance, leaving only panic and fear. Miss Zhou's face was even paler, and she clutched Mr. Luo's sleeve tightly, unable to utter a word.
"Shut up!" Old Master Luo shouted angrily, interrupting Mr. Luo's sophistry. He looked at Wu Xinyan with a hint of apology in his eyes, "Xinyan, the hospital said that the child's condition..."
Wu Xinyan's heart sank suddenly, and an ominous premonition came over her. She suppressed her inner uneasiness and tried to keep her tone calm: "What's wrong with the child?"
Mr. Luo looked at her, hesitant to speak, and finally uttered a few words in a sad voice: "The child is gone."
Wu Xinyan felt her vision go dark and her body swayed. Fortunately, Luo Yichen supported her in time. He held her hand tightly, and the warmth of his palm gave her a hint of strength, but it couldn't dispel the chill in her heart.
The child is gone.
These four words were like a bolt from the blue, exploding in her ears, ruthlessly destroying all her hopes and expectations. She couldn't believe that the little life in her belly had passed away before it had even had a chance to see the world.
Luo Yichen felt her trembling, hugged her tightly in his arms, and whispered in her ear: "Xinyan, don't be afraid, I'm here."
His voice was low and firm, like a beacon in the storm, giving her a little comfort. She buried her head in his chest, tears silently falling.
"Yi Chen, let's go." After a long time, Wu Xinyan raised her head from his arms. Her tone was calm, but with an unquestionable determination.
Luo Yichen looked at her with complicated eyes, and finally said nothing. He just held her hand tightly and walked out of the room with her.
Outside the door, the night was deep and the moonlight poured down like water, illuminating their clasped hands and their future common path.
"Xinyan..." He called her softly, with a hint of hesitation and expectation in his tone.
